Jets MVB's Smith helps USA Deaf MVB to Pan Ams silver medal
Jul 6, 2016

Miramar MVB associate head coach Mark Smith joined the coaching staff of the USA Deaf Volleyball men's team at the end of June, and helped the team to a silver medal finish at the 2016 Deaf Pan American Games in Washington, D.C. Smith's presence with the USA Deaf MVB team was at the request of USA head coach Greg Remaklus. Team USA made an undefeated run through pool play en route to the gold medal match, where the team from Brazil avenged a previous pool play loss to the USA Men, leaving the Americans with the Deaf Pan Ams silver medal.

Team USA would go on to take fifth place in the World Deaf Games, a week later, with a victory over Japan.

Smith will enter his third year in the Miramar MVB program in 2016-17, and his first as associate head coach.
