WSOC's Olmedo named PCAC Athlete of the Week

Miramar women's soccer goalkeeper Adriana Olmedo was one of two Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Women's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 20th. Olmedo shares the award with Southwestern College cross country runner Amitat Olowara.

Olmedo, a freshman from Vista Murrieta High School, recorded 10 saves while shutting out state No. 1-ranked Los Angeles Pierce in a 0-0 tie. She had six saves, including a tip over the bar in the middle of the second half, in a 2-0 victory over East Los Angeles.

Olmedo is 4-1-1 with a goals-against average of 0.833 and 31 saves for the Jets, who are third in Southern California in power points and fourth in state power points in ratings compiled by the California Community College Soccer Coaches Association.

Consistent with the mission of San Diego Miramar College, Miramar Jets Intercollegiate Athletics will strive for academic and athletic excellence by offering model programs that fit the needs, interests, and abilities of our male and female student-athletes. In this context, excellence is focused on the physical, emotional, and intellectual well being to develop meaningful standards of character, respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship within the educational and social environment, through highly qualified educators, coaches, and state-of-the-art facilities.
