May 27, 2026
Miramar College has announced the hiring of Coach Andrew Shiheiber as the program's new Head Coach, bringing with him a strong background in collegiate athletics, player development, and championship level experience.
Originally from Las Vegas, Shiheiber relocated to San Diego to pursue his academic and athletic career. Following high school, he attended Grossmont College in 2019, where he competed with their men's volleyball team before transferring to San Diego State University. At SDSU he completed his Bachelor's degree while competing for the university's club volleyball program.
Shiheiber began his collegiate coaching career at Grossmont College in 2023 as an assistant coach before being promoted to Head Coach in 2025. He now enters his first season leading the San Diego Miramar program. In addition to his collegiate experience, he has coached at East County Volleyball Club and previously returned to his alma mater, Centennial High School, in 2021, helping guide the team to a state championship final appearance.
As a player, Shiheiber established himself as one of the top club setters in the nation during his time at San Diego State. He helped lead SDSU to a Top 5 national finish in 2023 and a Top 10 finish in 2024. In 2024, he earned Tournament MVP honors at the Las Vegas Classic and received two all-tournament team selections during his collegiate career.
Beyond the collegiate level, Shiheiber competed semi-professionally in the Volleyball League of America (VLA) with Team SD Wave and Team IX in Arizona. He also remains active in the beach volleyball scene, competing in CBVA tournaments throughout California.
Academically, Shiheiber graduated from San Diego State University in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. He later earned his Physical Education Teaching Credential from SDSU in 2025 and most recently completed his Master's degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2026.
