2019-20 Female Athlete of the Year; Sophie Underwood

Congratulations to Sophie Underwood for being nominated the 2019-20 San Diego Miramar College's Female Athlete of the Year!
A little about Sophie:
Sophie has a 3.6 GPA. She was a team captain of the Women's Soccer team and played CB for us this season. Sophie showed tremendous growth both on the field and as a teammate. Coach Steph is proud to have seen the growth!
It is hard to quote stats for a defender as we don’t keep them in Soccer. However, Coach Steph can say with certainty that the Lady Jets would have conceded twice as many goals this year without her back there. And she did put a few offensive stats in with a pair of assists on the season.
She worked hard despite struggling through injuries. She never gave up despite being on a team with very little experience and battling tremendous adversity throughout this past season. She has committed to play at Fresno Pacific University next fall.
