Jets Make Statement in Historic Second Season

Women Capture PCAC Championship Title
In just the second season in program history, San Diego Miramar College Swim & Dive delivered a statement performance at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Championships. The women's team captured the PCAC Championship title, marking a major milestone for the rising Jets program.
"This group has put in the work, trusted the process, and bought into a true team-first culture," said Head Coach Lucy Gates, who was named the 2026 PCAC Coach of the Year. With the program still in its early stages, these conference results highlight the promising trajectory of Miramar College Swim & Dive.
Championship Standouts
A number of strong performances led the way for the Jets:
Alexis Kershner dominated the competition, earning first place in all three of her individual events — 100 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle, and 200 Butterfly. She was named the PCAC Swimmer of the Year.
Clara Jarvis also had a strong showing, placing 1st in the 100 Freestyle, 2nd in the 50 Freestyle, and 3rd in the 100 Butterfly.
Captain Sofie Salazar captured medals in all three of her individual events as well, placing 1st in the 100 Individual Medley, 3rd in the 200 Individual Medley, and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke.
The Jets also made their presence felt in the relays, placing first in four relays and second in one, led by Hayden Bentley, Clara Jarvis, Dayana Gomez, Alexis Kershner, Evelyn Shoemaker, Sofie Salazar, Samantha Alfaro, and Griffyn Jessee.

- Hayden Bentley — 2nd (400 Individual Medley), 2nd (200 Backstroke)
- Griffyn Jessee — 2nd (500 Freestyle), 2nd (200 Freestyle), 2nd (1650 Freestyle)
- Samantha Alfaro — 3rd (100 Freestyle), 5th (50 Freestyle), 5th (100 Butterfly)
- Dayana Gomez — 3rd (200 Breaststroke), 4th (100 Breaststroke)
- Annaleese Reed — 3rd (500 Freestyle), 3rd (1650 Freestyle), 4th (200 Freestyle)
- Amanda Wright — 3rd (200 Butterfly), 5th (200 Individual Medley)
- Maggie Nguyen — 5th (100 Backstroke), 5th (200 Backstroke)
- Cali Medrano — 5th (400 Individual Medley)
- Mave Richardson — 5th (1650 Freestyle)
8th in the State
But the season didn't end there! Eight swimmers qualified for the 3C2A Swim & Dive State Championships, where they competed against the top community college swimmers from across California, finishing 8th in the state out of over 50 programs.

The Future is Bright
After a second-place finish in their inaugural 2025 season, the Jets have taken another big step forward with a first-place finish in year two. With momentum building and history already being made, Miramar College Swim & Dive is quickly becoming a program to watch across the 3C2A.
