Men's Basketball WINS Don Gehler Memorial Tournament!

Our Jets are Tournament Champions!

Over the weekend - San Diego Miramar College Men's Basketball hosted the 9th Annual Don Gehler Memorial Basketball Tournament.  A total of 8 schools were matched up and games began Thursday!  Miramar was set to play Rio Hondo on Thursday at 2pm.  The Jets fought tough being that this team hadn't played together competitively in over 19 months.  Finally- we were back!  Jets ended up dominating Thursday night 74-59  and moved on to Semi-Finals on Friday. 

Friday's match up was against conference rival - the Palomar College Comets.  Tip-off was at 4pm and by half time they were tied with the Comets 31-31.  The Jets came out on top in the 2nd half defeating the Comets 64-58, placing them in the Championship game on Saturday.  They had to watch the last game of the night to find out who they were playing between MiraCosta and San Diego City College - City won that game.

Championship night - the excitement of college basketball being back was in the air!  Every seat in the bleachers were full! Tip off was a but late due to some great games earlier but none the less- 6:30 rolled around and the teams were focused on one goal!  It was a back and fourth game for the first half with the Jets tying up the score 28-28.  After half time - it was go time.  Both teams fought until the very end - but the Jets took off. Jets defeated San Diego City Knights 62-55 and move to Tournament Champions!  They are 3-0!!!

Jets will travel to Irvine Valley on November 17th for a 7pm match.  Fans welcome - with social distancing and masks!
